Details of the application

West Cumbria Rivers Trust (“the Trust”) has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).

The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Ehen at Ennerdale Mill Weir, Egremont at National Grid Reference NY 01216 09957.

This is an existing, unlicensed impoundment structure. Before any works can be carried out on an unlicensed impoundment structure, the operator must apply for an impoundment licence. The Trust proposes to remove the whole weir structure to facilitate upstream and downstream fish passage at the above location.
