West Berkshire Council: application made to impound water

West Berkshire Council has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for two licences to obstruct or impede the flow of Ash Bourne and unnamed drains at Tull Way, Thatcham, West Berkshire at National Grid References SU 50363 68569 and SU 50272 68541 respectively.
Water will be obstructed or impeded to create an earthwork embankment across the watercourses to provide flood risk protection to downstream properties during large storm events.
The proposed abstraction lies within the West Thames Area and the Kennet and Vale of White Horse Abstraction Licensing Strategy reporting area.
