Wessex Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 13/43/034/G/259 which authorises the abstraction of groundwater from underground strata comprising of chalk at National Grid References ST 90 07 and ST 90 08 for the purposes of public water supply and augmentation flow to Pimperne Stream.

The variation applied for is to remove the purpose of augmentation flow to Pimperne Stream, for this purpose abstraction quantities are 1.5 megalitres per day and 138 megalitres per year. Total abstraction quantities will be reduced by this amount, from 12 megalitres per day and 3,058 megalitres per year, to 10.5 megalitres per day and 2,920 megalitres per year for the purpose of public water supply only.
