Wessex Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency to renew a current variation to a licence..

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to renew a variation to a licence to abstract water from Wimbleball Reservoir near Brompton Regis, Somerset.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 2,500 cubic metres an hour
  • 45,461 cubic metres a day
  • 14,917,260 cubic metres a year
  • The abstraction will be limited to 9,305,000 between 1 April and 31 October each year.

This variation was initially granted in 2011 to increase the annual quantity from 11,615,260 cubic metres per year, the daily amount remains unchanged.

The water will be used for public water supply.
