Wates Construction Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from the Brighton Chalk aquifer at Free Wharf, Shoreham-By-Sea between National Grid References (NGRs) TQ 22110 05129, TQ 22380 05134, TQ 22365 05027 & TQ 22067 05016 to transfer it to the River Adur between NGRs TQ 22067 05016 & TQ 22365 05027 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 360 cubic metres an hour
- 8,640 cubic metres a day
- 3,153,600 cubic metres a year
Abstraction will take place each day for the purpose of dewatering to create a dry construction area.
