Details of the application

Waterside Green Energy Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Great Ouse at Little Paxton, St. Neots, Cambridgeshire at National Grid Reference TL 18627 61766.

The application is to abstract water all year at the following rates:

  • 58,284 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,398,816 cubic metres a day
  • 349,704,000 cubic metres a year

The water will be used to generate hydro-electric power. All of the abstracted water will be returned to the River Great Ouse immediately downstream of the sluices.
