Wainstones Energy Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Manchester Ship Canal at Carrington, National Grid Reference SJ 72595 93296.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 1,876 cubic metres an hour
- 44,968 cubic metres a day
- 12,176,881 cubic metres a year
Abstraction is authorised throughout the whole year.
The water will be used for evaporative cooling and demineralisation for the production of energy. The application is to support a proposed power station at Carrington, Trafford.
