We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following:

How many Voluntary Assisted Return and Reintegration Programme (VARRP)payments have been made? How much has the scheme cost? To which countries have the recipients returned? How many recipients have since been detected trying to return to the UK, or already living here illegally, under other identities, etc? How many duplicate or additional payments have been detected as having been paid in error to people who have already received payments on condition that they leave the UK? How much have these false payments cost the Government?
