Volkerstevin Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata consisting of Carboniferous Lower Coal Measures at Harrison’s Farm, Adlington, Chorley within the area formed by lines running between the following National Grid References; SD 59690 12310, SD 59720 12310, SD 59720 12280, and SD 59690 12280 to transfer it to the River Douglas at National Grid Reference SD 59751 12303 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 198 cubic metres an hour
- 4,752 cubic metres a day
- 1,734,480 cubic metres a year
