Vertase F.L.I. Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata - Made Ground, superficial deposits and chalk from excavation(s) between NGR TL 42880 52753, TL 42955 52724, TL 42891 52593, TL 42789 52621 and boreholes at NGRs: TL 42835 52787; TL 42874 52776; TL 42901 52760; TL 42926 52757; TL 42949 52759; TL 42983 52738; TL 42835 52514; TL 42812 52596; TL 42808 52624; TL 42909 52634; TL 42827 52680 at Hauxton, Cambridge.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 20 cubic metres an hour
  • 171 cubic metres a day
  • 40,000 cubic metres a year
  • Abstraction all year and required to 31 January 2025.

The water will be used for Pollution Remediation.
