The tests make sure new products put on the UK market meet legal obligations.

They’re carried out by the Vehicle Market Surveillance Unit, part of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

This year’s testing programme checked:

• advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
• brake linings
• catalytic converters (CATs) and diesel particulate filters (DPFs)
• electrically assisted pedal cycles
• e-scooters
• motorcycle exhaust systems and silencers
• motorcycle helmets and eye protection
• non-road mobile machinery (NRMM)
• small trailers
• tyres
