Details of the application

V A Barker & Son has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 4/30/12/*S/0070Y which authorises the abstraction of water from drains around the South Forty Foot Drain centred at National Grid Reference (NGR) TF 16251 28886 at the following quantities:

  • 614 cubic metres per day

  • 13,638 cubic metres per year

  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 10.1 litres per second

Between 1 February and 30 September inclusive.

The water will be used for the purpose of spray irrigation. The variation applied for is to authorise abstraction from additional drains and additional annual quantities of water between April and October for the purpose of spray irrigation as detailed below:

Higher Lode between NGR TF 16850 28400 and TF 17040 28410 (8,250 cubic metres), Twenty Foot Drain at NGR TF 17104 29480 (5,000 cubic metres) and TF 17534 29527 (2,500 cubic metres), and an un-named drain east of South Forty Foot Drain between NGR TF 16580 29250 and TF 16592 29204 (5,000 cubic metres).

The total abstraction quantities from the additional drains will not exceed 614 cubic metres per day and 10.1 litres per second.
