This letter is a response to a Freedom of Information request asking when Gatso fixed speed cameras were first used on British roads and the number installed by the end of 1995. The response letter states that Gatso cameras were first used in England and Wales (excluding Scotland) in 1992 but that no specific Gatso camera amount can be supplied as these records are not kept. A table featuring the total number of fixed and cumilative speed cameras installed, by year up to 2007, is however included.
