United Utilities Water Limited: application made to impound water

United Utilities Water Limited (UU) has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for an impoundment licence to allow UU to release 605 cubic metres per day of water (compensation flow) from Poaka Beck Reservoir at National Grid Reference SD 24 78 into Poaka Beck (downstream watercourse).
There is currently no compensation flow required from the reservoir. The purpose of the compensation flow is to provide an ecological benefit to the downstream watercourse.
