The Home Office commissioned 2 nationally representative surveys through Ipsos UK to understand public experiences, perceptions and understanding of money muling.
The first survey was conducted via the Ipsos UK KnowledgePanel in February 2024 comprising 2,114 respondents, aged 16 to 75 years old. It explored the prevalence of money mule recruitment encounters and willingness to engage via hypothetical scenarios.
The second survey was conducted via the Ipsos UK iOmnibus panel in March 2024 comprising 2,233 respondents, aged 16 to 75 years old. This explored public understanding of the illegality of money muling.
This one-off report brings together findings from these surveys.
