UK NCP initial assessment: complaint by Reprieve against BT - co-operation with intelligence agencies

Initial assessment from the UK National Contact Point (NCP) on a complaint by a UK civil society body against BT.

This statement records the decision of the UK National Contact Point (NCP) to reject a complaint from Reprieve against British Telecommunications plc.

Reprieve is a UK civil society organisation campaigning for civil and prisoners’ rights.

The complaint alleged that the company’s providing intelligence services with access to customer communications did not meet voluntary standards on human rights included in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
