UK NCP final statement: complaint by RAID against ENRC

Details

This statement records the decision of the UK National Contact Point (NCP) about a complaint against Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (ENRC) by non-governmental organisation (NGO) Rights and Accountability in Development (RAID).

The complaint about ENRC’s mining projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo alleged that the company’s actions did not meet voluntary standards of responsible business conduct included in the OECD guidelines for multinational enterprises.

The guidelines have an associated complaints process, delivered by UK NCP, relevant to the company concerned. The UK NCP made a first assessment of the complaint in October 2013 and offered the parties mediation. They were unable to reach agreement, so the UK NCP examined the information both parties had presented and reached the conclusions set out in this final statement.
