UK government response to first CMA report into the UK subsidy control regime

The UK government has issued a response to the first CMA report into the effectiveness of the UK Subsidy Control Act and its impact on competition and investment in the UK.

Details

Section 65 of the Subsidy Control Act 2022 requires that the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) must undertake periodic reviews of the effectiveness of the operation of the act and its impact on competition and investment within the United Kingdom.

As specified by the act, this first review covers the period between 4 January 2023, when the act came into force, and 31 March 2026.
