The MoU, signed on 16 February 2026, builds on the strong existing relationship between the UK and the State of California. It sets out mutual goals and activities to strengthen cooperation on climate, clean energy and the environment, and drive economic growth.

The MoU prioritises cooperation on:

• clean energy technology, systems and financing
• climate resilience
• carbon management
• transport decarbonisation
• environmental protection
