Statement, 26 March 2026

The Foreign Secretary and Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira today signed the UK-Brazil Strategic Partnership in the margins of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. This elevates the bilateral relationship to a new level, setting an ambitious direction for the next chapter of our over 200-year relationship.

The Partnership commits the UK and Brazil to deepen cooperation across foreign and security policy, growth, defence and sustainable development as well as connections between our people – reflecting the strong, historic ties between our two countries.

With bilateral trade reaching £13.3 billion last year, the Partnership provides a framework to grow this even further, boosting investment and economic links. This new Partnership marks a significant step forward in the UK-Brazil relationship. We look forward to working closely with Brazil to deliver on this shared agenda – driving progress with renewed ambition in the years ahead.
