The aim of this guidance is to support public health practitioners in identifying the sources of typhoid or paratyphoid infection, and reduce the risks of secondary transmission.

This guidance is destined to be used in conjunction with the accompanying template letter (fact sheet) and the enteric fever enhanced surveillance questionnaire.
