Tungsten electrodes from Laos and Thailand (anti-dumping duty 2424)

The Commission, by Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2020/1249, OJ ref. L290, has extended anti-dumping duty on tungsten electrodes to imports consigned from Laos and Thailand, whether or not declared as originating there. The rate of anti-dumping duty that applies to these imports is 63.5%.

The product is described as:

  • tungsten welding electrodes
  • including tungsten bars and rods for welding electrodes
  • containing 94% or more by weight of tungsten
  • other than those obtained simply by sintering
  • whether or not cut to length

This regulation takes effect from 5 September 2020.

The product is classified within the following commodity codes:

Consigned from Laos:

  • 8101 9910 11
  • 8515 9080 11

Consigned from Thailand:

  • 8101 9910 12
  • 8515 9080 12

Other (China):

  • 8101 9910 20
  • 8515 9080 20

Customs authorities will discontinue registration and collect the backdated duty at 63.5% on registered imports from 20 December 2019 to date.

Companies in Laos and Thailand not involved in circumvention practices may apply to the Commission to be exempted from the measures if they fulfil the conditions in the regulation.

The investigation concerning imports of the product consigned from or originating in India has been terminated without measures.
