Details of the application

Tudor Griffiths Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Aston Hall Lake at Aston Hall, Oswestry, from two abstraction points: (A) at National Grid Reference (NGR) SJ 32170 27378; and (B) at NGR SJ 32284 28250.

The application is to abstract water from point A as follows:

  • 416 cubic metres an hour
  • 10,000 cubic metres a day
  • 3,650,000 cubic metres a year
  • all year.

The application is to abstract water from point B as follows:

  • 85 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,040 cubic metres a day
  • 50,000 cubic metres a year
  • Between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for lake throughflow and spray irrigation from points A and B respectively.
