An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Trustees of Mrs P.V.E. Morrell’s marriage settlement dated the 29 November 1946. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Thames at Culham Weir, Culham at National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 50130 94389.

The proposal is to abstract water all year at the following rates and periods:

  • 2,299,968 cubic metres a day
  • 505,992,960 cubic metres a year
  • at an instantaneous rate of 26.62 cubic metres per second

The water will be used for hydropower generation using 3 Archimedes turbines.

The application is also for a transfer licence to abstract water from River Thames at Culham Weir, Culham at NGR SU 50163 94423 for the purpose of transferring it to the River Thames at NGR SU 50195 94419 via a new fish pass.

The water will be abstracted for the purpose of transferring it between the two points on that source of supply referred to above and without intervening use.
