Transporting dangerous goods by sea: limited quantity placarding and marking

This publication was withdrawn on 23 September 2015

The information on this page has been replaced by an amendment to the IMDG Code.

This guidance by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) outlines the labelling to use for cargo transport units (CTUs).

This guidance document is MCA’s interpretation of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code (amendment 36-12 chapter 3.4). It’s for those involved with transporting CTUs by sea.

Requirements are given in the IMDG code for the placards and markings to be used on a CTU that’s loaded (partly or fully) with limited quantities.
