Together for our Planet competition: privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will use your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Your data

The data we collect

We will process the following personal data:

  • details of competition entrant as set out on the entry form

This will include:

  • contact name
  • email address
  • telephone number
  • any photography supplied

Other data collected will include:

  • business name
  • address
  • sector
  • number of employees

Purpose

We are processing your personal data for the purposes of the Together for our Planet competition.

The legal basis for processing your personal data is:

  • consent: you consent to us doing so

What we do with your data

Personal data collected will be shared with judges and partners as part of the judging process only and will be used for the purposes of contacting you as part of the competition. For more information, please see competition terms and conditions.

To enter the competition, you must enter online on the SME climate HUB website and complete the competition application form by the closing date. More information on SME’s privacy policy can be found on the SME Climate Hub website.

We may share your data if we are required to do so by law, for example by court order or to prevent fraud or other crime.

As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure it will also be shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.

How long we keep your data

Your personal data will be kept by us for as long as it may be relevant and for a maximum of 3 years.

Automated decision making

Your personal data will not be subject to automated decision making.

Your rights

You have the right to request:

  • information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) that the processing of your personal data is restricted

You also have the right to:

  • object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes
  • withdraw consent to the processing of your personal data at any time

International transfers

As your personal data is stored on our IT infrastructure and shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, it may be transferred and stored securely in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA). Where it is the case that your personal data is stored outside the UK and EEA it will be subject to equivalent legal protection through the use of Model Contract Clauses.

Complaints

If you consider that your personal data has been misused or mishandled, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner, who is an independent regulator. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
