The Youth Employment Challenge uses the UK Commission for Employment and Skills’ (UKCES) labour market surveys to provide an analysis of the causes of youth unemployment. The report covers:

  • the changing structure of the labour market
  • the increasing use of recruitment channels that disadvantage young people
  • the growing value employers place on work experience

An updated version of this paper - Scaling the Youth Employment Challenge - was published by UKCES in March 2013.
