An application has been made to the Environment Agency by The Wilton Estate. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from The River Nadder at National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 09368 31200, for the purpose of transferring water through a new bypass channel which is to be created at the Wilton Ponds Hatches to allow fish movement.

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates:

  • 61,500 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,200,000 cubic metres a day
  • 78,500,000 cubic metres a year

Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year

The water will be abstracted for the purpose of transferring it between the sources of supply referred to above and without intervening use.
