The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Parrett using an inlet sluice at National Grid Reference (NGR) ST 26079 43069 to transfer it to Steart Marshes, Bridgewater. The proposal has an all year abstraction period. Water abstracted under this licence shall be returned to the River Parrett at NGR ST 26050 43043.
The application is to abstract water as a means of supporting the Steart Marshes managed wetland system. The proposed abstraction is within the Stogursey Brook catchment and South and West Somerset Abstraction licencing Strategy management area.
