We received a request for under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) about an experiment reported in the Scotland on Sunday newspaper on 4 September 2005 involving the use of pigs in organ transplant research.
We provided the applicants with a narrative providing the non-exempt information contained in the relevant project licence granted under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
We also explained that the relevant project licence was not held by the person named in the Scotland on Sunday article and that the licence does not authorise cross-species transplantation of solid organs.
