This report offers an innovative methodology to defining the UK data driven market through classifying companies which match the definition for this. In doing so, it offers a horizontal view of data driven companies operating across the economy. It builds a robust evidence base for data driven activity and its economic contributions to the UK. The methodology can be replicated to monitor the growth of this contribution year on year.
The report was developed internally by the Data Policy Analysis Team in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology using data from The Data City.
