The River Gipping Trust: application made to abstract water and impound water

The River Gipping Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract (take) water from the River Gipping at Pipps Ford Lock National Grid Reference (NGR) TM 10709 53709 and transfer it within the same source of supply to NGR TM 10736 53614 without intervening use.

Abstraction will take place all year.

The River Gipping Trust has also applied for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Gipping at NGR TM 10699 53672.

By stop planks water will be impounded to redirect flows down a new bypass.
