The National Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for 2 licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from Greenburn Beck at National Grid Reference (NGR) NY 28952 02237.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

The water will be used for an hydroelectric power production scheme. All abstracted water will be returned to the beck at NGR NY 29904 02779.
The National Trust has also applied to the Environment Agency for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of Greenburn Beck at NGR NY 28952 02237. The object of impounding water by means of the works is to install a screened intake weir to facilitate the abstraction.
