The Lowwood Products Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Wharfe at Otley Weir, Wharfeside Paper Mills, Mill Lane, Otley, at National Grid Reference SE 20387 46077.

A hydro-electric power scheme shall be installed at the existing weir consisting of two Archimedean screw turbines, a fish pass and a fish easement. All of the water used to operate the scheme shall be returned to the River Wharfe immediately downstream of the weir.
