Details

This research forms part of a wider information gathering exercise to understand the nature of pay discrimination, and to explore steps that can be taken to prevent it and remove barriers to redress.

It explored the lived experiences of pay discrimination on the basis of race or disability. It also included interviews with employers and support organisations to understand the wider context and systemic challenges.

The research aims to understand:

  • the perspectives of people who have experienced pay discrimination
  • potential respondents to pay discrimination claims such as employers
  • groups who provide support throughout the legal process

It was commissioned by the Office for Equality and Opportunity to understand the challenges and find the appropriate solutions in developing policies.
