Details

This document features our response following the HS2 Phase One safeguarding consultation, concerning the route from London to West Midlands. It explains that safeguarding directions for the majority of the HS2 Phase One route are now in place.

Safeguarding directions are a mechanism set out in the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2010 for ensuring that new developments do not conflict with the construction of major projects such as HS2. When properly applied they can help control costs and prevent delays, in the interests of scheme promoters, individual developers and the wider public.
