Details of the application

The Environment Agency has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for a licence.

The application is to vary licence serial number 1/23/01/149A/R01 which authorises the abstraction of water from the Kielder Burn at Kielder, Northumberland from National Grid References (NGRs) NY 63588 93800 (A) and NY 63336 93435 (B).

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

Further details of the proposal are:

The variation applied for is to make the following changes:

  • Removal of condition 9.3

  • Amendment of measurement condition to allow calculation based on pumped hours for abstraction point B.

  • Amend biosecurity procedures.

The licence is for fish farming is within the North Tyne catchment. All water abstracted is returned to the Kielder Burn at NGRs NY 63336 93435 and NY 63355 93448.
