Details of the application

The Environment Agency is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The application is for a new transfer licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a transfer licence for the purpose of a proposed new fish bypass channel at North Mill Weir, Midhurst, on the River Rother. Abstraction point will be located at National Grid Reference SU 88870 22098, with all water returned downstream of the weir at SU 88872 22073. The Environment Agency will abstract at a maximum rate of 460 litres/second, 1,656 m3 per hour and 39,744 m3 per day.

Further details of the proposal are: The existing centrally mounted fish pass will be decommissioned, and the associated flow will now pass down the new bypass channel, representing a like for like change.
