The Environment Agency is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The application is for a bypass channel on the River Sow at SJ 88333 27085 around Great Bridgeford Mill Weir in order to aid fish passage.

The quantities of water transferred will vary with flows in the River Sow:

  • at high flows approximately 2,322 cubic metres per hour will be transferred
  • at low flows approximately 230 cubic metres per hour will be transferred

All water will be returned to the River Sow downstream of the weir.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
