Details

The enrichment framework supports schools and colleges in England to plan, strengthen and review their enrichment offer. It includes benchmarks, supported by case studies, tools and resources.

This guidance applies to schools and colleges, including:

  • primary and secondary schools, including those with a sixth form
  • non‑maintained special schools and alternative provision settings
  • 16 to 19 academies
  • further education colleges
  • sixth‑form colleges
  • special post‑16 institutions

This guidance is for:

  • staff and leadership teams in schools and colleges
  • trustees, trust boards and governing bodies
  • relevant local authority staff
  • organisations and practitioners delivering enrichment activities

Providers for young people will be referred to as ‘colleges’ in this guidance. Independent Training Providers (ITPs) are not covered by this guidance but may choose to use it if they wish.

Pupils or children are defined as 5 to 16 years old and young people as students aged 16 to 19 years old, or up to the age of 25 years old when they have an education, health and care plan (EHCP).
