This report details the current landscape of arts and culture-based programmes that aim to address serious youth crime. In particular, the report comments on the diversity of these programmes and the challenges this can present, particularly in regards to delivery and equality of access. The report also provides an assessment on the effectiveness of these programmes in reducing rates of violent crime among young people.
The report’s findings are based on a systematic mapping of current programmes in England, a rapid evidence review and secondary research using three case studies, data from justice-involved youth, and interviews with professional stakeholders.
This research was developed and produced according to the authors’ hypotheses and methods. The research undertaken, subsequent findings and recommendations in this report do not represent UK Government views or policy.
