Details of the application

The Eden Rivers Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Lowther at Low Gardens Weir, Penrith, National Grid Reference NY 52118 25032.

Further details are: This is an existing, unlicensed weir. Before any works are carried out on an unlicensed impoundment structure, the operator must apply for an impoundment licence. The Eden Rivers Trust proposes to change the structure by creating two full depth notches to aid fish migration and improve the condition of the river for wildlife.
