Details of the application

The Crown Estate has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The applications are for two full licences to abstract water from Virginia Water at National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 96991 69225 and Great Pond at NGR SU 93447 69961.

The application is to abstract water from Virginia Water is as follows:

  • 90 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,160 cubic metres a day
  • 49,000 cubic metres a year.

The application is to abstract water from Great Pond is as follows:

  • 115 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,765 cubic metres a day
  • 27,000 cubic metres a year.

The water will be used for spray irrigation.
