Details
Good freight connectivity is important for increasing economic growth, competitiveness and productivity. Economically, freight congestion causes delay that impacts all road users, including freight itself, and environmentally, it increases pollution and carbon emissions. The government is therefore asking the NIC to assess the three critical challenges of urban congestion, decarbonisation, and preparing the sector to harness the potential of new technology.
In addition, the letter welcomes the progress made towards the National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA) and notes the incoming publication of the NIC study on how infrastructure can make best use of new technology.
