Freedom of Information response to a request for details of our policies relating to the carrying of Sikh Kirpans (a Sikh dagger and symbol) either within Department for Transport buildings or whilst travelling.

The response explains that whilst there are certain restrictions placed on objects carried on trains, buses, ships and aeroplanes to maintain travel security, the Department for Transport places no formal restriction upon staff or visitors carrying the Kirpan within our organisation.
