The Canal & River Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Trent and Mersey Canal at Anderton Boat Lift, Lift Lane, Northwich, National Grid Reference SJ 64778 75355.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 864 cubic metres an hour
- 20,736 cubic metres a day
- 7,568,640 cubic metres a year
- All year.
The water will be used for hydroelectric power generation.
Further details are: The proposed abstraction lies within the Weaver and Dane abstraction licensing strategy reporting area.
