The Arkwright Society Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the Bonsall Brook at Cromford Mill at National Grid Reference SK 29840 56970.
Water will be obstructed or impeded to generate hydro-electric power from the wheelpit and reinstate a waterwheel to demonstrate the original technology used at the site. All water will be returned to the River Derwent via a tunnel connected to the wheelpit.
