Thatchers Cider Company Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract (take) water from a borehole at Myrtle Farm, Sandford, Somerset, totalling 54,750 cubic metres per year. The National Grid Reference for the abstraction point is ST 41909 59818.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 6.25 cubic metres an hour
- 150 cubic metres a day
- 54,750 cubic metres a year
- Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive.
The water will be used for processing.
The proposed abstraction lies in the Bristol Avon and North Somerset Streams Catchment Abstraction Management Strategy reporting area.
