Test Valley Trout (Itchen) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the chalk at Main Road, Itchen Abbas, National Grid Reference (NGR) SU 53778 32784.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 140 cubic metres an hour
  • 3,360 cubic metres a day
  • 1,226,400 cubic metres a year
  • All year

The water will be used for fish farming. All of the water abstracted will be discharged to the River Itchen at NGR SU 53760 32848.
