Teddington Lock September 2020: lock restriction notice

Published 3 September 2020

This notice was withdrawn on

River restriction no longer in force.

When

Tuesday 1 September to Wednesday 30 September 2020.

Where

Teddington Lock.

Details

Passage through Teddington Lock is available from 7am to 9pm.

We will only be offering tidal transits between these times. Please check the table if you are planning a journey on the tideway.

As the self-service facility is not possible at Teddington, transit will not be possible through the night and from 9pm until 7am, the lock will be closed to traffic.

We will be regularly reviewing this as the boating season progresses with a view to return back to a full 24 hour service as soon as we can.

Short period launch registrations and unpowered registrations are available at the lock. You can also buy these by phoning our National Customer Contact Centre Boat Renewal Line on 0330 159 1983 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm).

Guidance for using the lock

Transiting through the lock will be practiced with social distancing.

Members of staff will be on site to operate the pedestal but will have limited ability to assist with ropes in order to keep a safe distance.

We recommend at least one crew member to be present to manage ropes and react to any incident that may occur.

Skippers and passengers are to remain on vessels while in the lock and follow instruction from the lock keeper if a visiting licence is needed.

Please do not congregate once on a mooring.

Tidal journeys

If heading onto the tideway, please make sure you have booked with Brentford or other suitable lock or mooring. Please arrive with plenty of time and wait on the layby for instructions from the lock keeper.

We will be providing updates on tidal transit times before the beginning of every month.

If you are planning a tidal journey there is no need to contact us to book.

Please check the tide times that passage through the lock will be available for. For journeys to Brentford lock, please make sure you are waiting on the layby at least one hour before High Water. This may vary with other tidal transit destinations.

Please note that passage under Hammersmith Bridge is currently not available until further notice. Please contact the Port of London Authority for more information.
